I got a chance to ask Kentucky coach John Calipari for an update on Willie Cauley-Stein, who has missed three games after having knee surgery, for an update on the freshman going into Tuesday’s game at Ole Miss.
“He’s been going really hard. He will travel with us to Mississippi. I don’t know if he’ll play. Probably doubtful. But he’ll be on the court today some. Whether he’ll go a practice, I don’t know. But he will travel with us,” Calipari said.
Has the recovery taken longer than expected?
“No, no. It’s about what we thought,” Calipari said when I asked.

When its right, its right…don’t rush, WCS is to important….
I have a sneaky feeling Stein will play. I hope so.
I agree with both Larrys.
But, if he doesn’t play, it makes an already very difficult game into an extremely difficult game.
Any other year I would be optimistic about going into that dark, crappy gym, but I don’t know how to feel about this UK team. I hope they realize this is one of only 4 more chances they are going to get to have a “good” win in the eyes of the selection committee. This game is important on many levels.
This is a game where UK could use another big body. Ole Miss tough inside. Remember, they gave Cats fits last year and two years ago teams almost fought postgame at SEC tourney
LSU was a prep game for Alex, Now we’ll see if he’s really ready to be tough…
I agree with all the above…
don’t rush it
sneaky feeling he will play
need WCS in a BIG way
He is adds so much to the team
Ole Miss fans and players have not displayed much “courtesy or professionalism” (to put it mildly” in the past several years.
We just need to escape with a WIN and no injuries
I also wonder if Coach is not “baiting” Mississippi to a degree; however, bringing him back before ready could be a disaster, and Coach will not do that.
Still think that if these guys can “turn-the-corner,” as it were, we will have some fun in March. There are NO dominate teams this year. NCAA appears to be wide open. Look how many top 12′s went down this past week! UofL has had a GREAT couple weeks. LOVE IT!
Can not begin to imagine how horribly inaccurate our “brackets” will be come March.
“Upset city,” as Vitale would say… ha, ha.
GO BIG BLUE!
PS: How about the football program!!!!
It’s good to be a Wildcat !!!
I think UK’s Neilsen ratings will overcome their RPI ratings.
