Mark Stoops didn’t need long to snare his first 2014 commitment and it is an impressive one. Defensive end Denzel Ware of Crestview, Fla., one of the nation’s top-ranked defensive prospects, has given his verbal commitment to Stoops.
The 6-3, 220-pound Ware committed to Florida State in early September before deciding to re-open his recruitment earlier this month.
He had offers from Alabama, Florida, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas, USC and more.

Wow! Way to go Coach Stoops – Good start to 2014!
The sun is shining – grab your football & meet me out back!
Great NEWS!!! These guys want to play for a defensive minded coach. I hope he gets many more commitments for 2014. Get after em Coach.
This is sounding more like basketball every day. We haven’t had time to enjoy the 2013 class yet, and it starts rolling in for 2014. What a great time to be a Cat fan!!!! I haven’t had this much fun in a long time, and Stoops hasn’t coached his first down yet.
By the way, this kid is a four star on both Rivals and 247 Sports.
Great pickup! Looks a little like “World Peace Metta” of Lakers.
Outstanding!!!! Any relation to Dallas’ DeMarcus Ware.
I hope I live long enough to see these kids play at full maturity..
Hang in there, RJ,
You can make it!
I cannot remember ever having this much excitement about FB so early!! Can’t wait until April13 !
As Negative Ned would say, “What happens when he runs out of players previously committed to Florida State”? Maybe he will be able to create enough mo to keep some coming.
He will just recruit them for UK, how’s that?
I say he starts landing some 4* recruits out of Ohio, Texas, Florida, Trinity High, Saint Xavier now that he has established relations with these high school coaches that never heard from our coaches previously. I love how these group of coaches we have now are hitting the recruiting hard to make Kentucky a team that will never be the door mat again.
I am very happy with Coach Stoops. I give him and his coaches an A+ for the work they are doing up to now.
I can not be a negative Ned when I see what he has done and I know he has a lot better class coming in next year, starting with this young man.
Actually Fla. State still had a top 10 class.
I am not worried about recruiting with this staff.
They can recruit anywhere!
Great news again today on football. Keep it coming Larry.
I did not get to see the game today against Florida, it was not televised here or any other bases that have AFN. I am sickened to hear Nerlens is hurt. My prayers will go out for a speedy recovery. Will be tuning in to hear the prognosis on Nerlens
David and TExasCat, guessing it will be mid-day or later before we get a nerlens update. could be tomorrow
