Vaught’s note: Brandy Osborne is a lifelong member of the BBN, originally hailing from Oldham County and now settled in Jessamine County. While basketball is her obsession, she is learning to love football, slowly but surely. She is married to Ben, a not so basketball fanatical husband, who baked her “I’m sorry your team lost” brownies after the loss to Wisconsin in 2015. The brownies were good, the loss still hurts.

Skal Labissiere autograph tour starts Saturday

By LARRY VAUGHT

Kentucky freshman Skal Labissiere will start his own autograph tour Saturday at the Elizabethtown Town Mall from 5-7 p.m.

Labissiere has declared for the NBA draft and is projected as a mid-first round pick because of the skill set he has for a 7-foot player.

He will be at All Sports in Fayette Mall in Lexington Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. he will be at the Simpsonville Outlet Mall in Simpsonville.

On Tuesday he will go to Barleycorn’s in Cold Spring and appear from 6-7:30 p.m. and Wednesday he will be at the London Community Center in London from 7-8:30 p.m.

Eddie Gran never has to say “giddy up” to JoJo Kemp

JoJo Kemp's smile and personality won me over immediately.

JoJo Kemp’s smile and personality won me over immediately.

There’s not a Kentucky football player I have enjoyed being around more in recent years than JoJo Kemp.

It started the first time I talked to him on the phone when I learned UK was recruiting the Florida running back. It has continued during his time at UK.

He’s brash, but honest. He’s caring. He’s outgoing. He gives an honest answer to any question.

I know he’s been frustrated at times the last two years that he has not got the ball more. Yet he has never publicly complained or pouted.

What are Kentucky fans going to remember most or miss most about Tyler Ulis?

Once Ulis made it official Wednesday that he would leave UK for the NBA, I posted that question on Twitter and I was not disappointed with the number of responses I got or how passionate and insightful they were.

So let me share some of the many, many responses that I got from fans about Ulis.

Hinshaw impressed by Drew Barker’s willingness to learn

Maybe Drew Barker sometimes had off-field issues his first two season at Kentucky. However, so far new offensive coordinator Darin  Hinshaw has nothing but praise for what Barker has done since he arrived at UK.

“Since I came in here, Drew has been just nipping at it to learn. He’s been a sponge. Now some of his, like I say, is like riding a bike. He’s got to go fall and make mistakes. He’s not going to be perfect out there right now. But from Day 1 to Day 9, he’s improved,” Hinshaw said after Tuesday’s practice.
