I signed my mom and myself up yesterday. I’m already getting excited! :-)

  • Steve says:

I’ve never been a big Basketball fan. I wish there was a men’s basketball clinic so I could learn the nuances oaf the game.

  • Karen Sprinkle says:

Steve–Coach Cal offers a coach’s clinic in addition to the women’s clinic that is available to everyone. Even men. :-)

  • LindaS says:

It seems to me the women’s clinic is getting shorter and shorter every year. Now it is on a week-night? Why are we getting short changed? There is not even a tour of the new lodge. I bleed blue just as much as anyone and I know my b-ball but I think this is not fair and someone should let UK and Coach Cal know. 3 hours is not enough time.

Great questions Linda. I will try to ask Chris Woolard your questions. Know others have concern about lack of autograph opportunities

  • LindaS says:

BTW I bet y’all never thought you would ever hear me say anything ‘negative’ about anything blue.

  • LindaS says:

Another thing, it would not allow us to get autographs of all the young men like we did a couple years ago. They have a strict time to be back in the dorm. I just think we are getting the short end of the straw. We support the program just as much as the men or coaches.

  • Karen Sprinkle says:

They haven’t set all the details for the Women’s Clinic yet, so I don’t think we know if there will be autograph opportunities or whether or not a tour of the new Lodge will be included. From the e-mail I got, they tweak the details and add new stuff each year to the Clinic to try to make it better than the previous clinics. I’m going to reserve judgment until I get the scoop on what is on the schedule. I think that the time allotted for the actual clinic has always been 3 hours, although if you show up early and get in right when registration starts, you get the opportunity to see more (like the Joe Craft Center and Coach Cal’s office). I felt like I missed a lot when I went 3 years ago because I came from work and didn’t get registered until after 5 pm and then ate at the catered meal.

Last year, they had the players at different locations throughout the Joe Craft Center (although most appeared to be in the training room) before the Clinic started. I managed to get all the new guys’ autographs (and could have gotten the returning players’ autographs as well) and photographs with a few. I’m sure many were disappointed last year when the post clinic autograph opportunity was very, very short. Two years ago, they told us that the players would have to leave for tutoring sessions within half an hour during the post clinic autograph sessions, but the players stayed and stayed and stayed. Since I’ll be newly retired, I don’t mind that it’s on a Wednesday night, but I would imagine many would prefer a weekend night.

  • LindaS says:

Last year the did it on a Sunday. This year during the week. I think they are trying to weed the women out. Some of us do have to work. I’ll miss seeing you Karen, for the second year in a row. My evil twin sister is really upset!

  • LindaS says:

They should let me organize this stuff! I’ll do it for free!

  • Karen Sprinkle says:

I’ll miss seeing you and your not-so-evil twin too, Linda. I think the first two years were through the week, and last year’s was the first year it was on a Sunday. I think I remembering reading a few comments that people weren’t happy it was on a Sunday. Unfortunately, they’re not going to be able to satisfy everyone. I’m sure it’s not easy finding a time that the coaching staff and the players don’t have something going on, even in early October, before official practice starts. I will be really excited to see all the newcomers and how they fit into whatever derivation of the dribble drive Cal uses this coming season.

  • LindaS says:

I will be retired next year, I don’t care what the heck they do then.

    • larryvaught says:

Linda, how can you retire at age 50. Tell us the secret. Seriously, Karen is right. Never a way to make everybody happy. Just hope they have all parking issues worked out this year. But the first year with the women even being able to playfully hug Cousins and pose for pictures with him was great. Got to let the ladies interact with players. Poythress, Goodwin, Harrow, Wiltjer and others will be great

  • LindaS says:

I’m 42, Larry, not 50! LOL That is my tale and a monkey hangs on his! I just don’t think 3 hours is enough time.
