How good is Huntington Prep’s Andrew Wiggins?
“Quite frankly, his potential is still to be determined. Right now, I don’t see a limit to his potential right now,” said Paul Biancardi, a former college basketball coach and current national recruiting director for ESPN. “He has every physical tool you can imagine as well as a great skill level and great understanding of how to play the game.”
Wait. There’s more.
“And he plays hard. He really competes every time,” Biancardi said.
Wiggins is contemplating whether to remain in the 2014 recruiting class, where he is ranked No. 1, or move to the 2013 class, where he will also be ranked No. 1.
Kentucky and Florida State, where his father played, continue to be the perceived leaders for Wiggins. Biancardi says he will star in any system, but would be perfectly suited to the style John Calipari uses at Kentucky.
“He has always been so athletic. He is just an incredible athlete, one you have to see to believe,” Biancardi said. “He has one of the highest verticals (jumps) in his class and then one of the quickest second jumps I have seen in a long time. He’s always had incredible athletic ability, but his skills have gotten better as far as shooting the ball with range. He has a nice pull-up game. He’s almost unstoppable when he drives. He will either score get fouled because of his strength, athletic ability and length. He just explodes to the rim. That’s why he lives at the free throw line.”
So does he have a weakness?
“He has it all from a scoring standpoint. He has every conceivable physical tool and his skill level is so good,” Biancardi said. “Like any player, he can always find things to work on. But he’s very, very good and he’s going to be a player that makes someone a great college player.”

I think wiggs would look just right in a big blue uniform!
It sounds like having him play for you a year would be like if Lebron james would have played college ball for a year. Same type of comparison.
Sounds unfair TrueBlueJohn, but do tend to agree with you. All say he is that good
I hope he is Lebron level quality and he joins the BBN. I’m always a bit suspicious when I hear comments like those though. Maybe he is as good as advertised but I’ve seen a lot of claims that didn’t pan out. I have seen video of Wiggins playing and he appears to have every move available to a player which is just amazing for a high school player. He will no doubt be awesome. I’m just not sure he’s LBJ awesome. Could be though.
King, Wiggins is the real deal
He sure looks like it from the video I’ve seen. He’s got moves I haven’t seen since the Big O was playing basketball. He seems to know every move ever invented in fact. It’s amazing how well he knows basketball and how well he can actually pull off those moves at his size. I know he’s incredibly talented. The one thing I just don’t know is if he’s LBJ level talented. That’s a big challenge right there. James is one of the very best of all time. Wiggins might turn out to be that too but to put that claim on a high school kid, no matter how good he seems at the time, is a lot IMO. I just think we need to see him against pro level competition before we can declare him the equal of King James. We’ll know a lot more when he gets to college and I sure hope that will be in Lexington.
I know something else too. If UK gets him, the Harrison twins, and thrown in Randle and Parker and the Cats can use me as a center and still win the title. But most likely they’ll get a big man or keep Cauley-Stein around and who knows, maybe Noel too. They could have the best team that ever played college basketball with a lineup like that and it’s looking like it is a possibility. Again I’ll have to wait to see that happen before I believe it but more than one recruiting expert has predicted it. Heck they might win the NBA title with a team like that. I’m going to be real surprised if they get them all because that will mean they got every one of the 5 top rated recruits but with Cal I’ve learned to never say never. I’m going to be very happy if they get just half of that list especially if Wiggins and the twins are the half they get.
