Don’t count ESPN national recruiting director Paul Biancardi as one who is worried about what kind of impact Nerlens Noel will have at Kentucky his freshman season.
Noel spent most of his summer completing two classes he had needed to complete his freshman eligibility requirements and then was criticized by some for his “lacklustre” play at a California camp last week.
“When you don’t play or practice as much as you normally do, it will show but it won’t hamper him long term. He has to do more come fall to catch back up, but it is all part of the learning curve when you are playing catch up,” said Biancardi. “He is battle tested. He has played AAU at the highest level. He went o a high level prep school. He has done everything you can in the high school ranks.
“It will be different at Kentucky, but I think he will work and get better over time. It may not come as quickly as everybody wants. A lot of what you do during the year is based on what you do during the offseason. I am sure he has been working on his game, but he had to spend some time doing other things. That might make his progress a little slower. But once he gets to practicing at UK and doing weight training, it should all come together pretty quick.
“He has great instincts for what he does, which is block shots and protect the rim. I still think he was a huge get for John Calipari and will make a huge difference in this year’s team.”

I think the only people “worried” about how Nerlens will develop and perform are the national hacks and fans of other teams. I don’t think anyone in BBN has a single concern for how he will perform and how much Cal will nurture, bring out and enhance his immense talents.
All the haters are going to hate on UK and its’ players, but they are also going to be hating life, come March.
Jim and Margaret, with you 100 percent. Anthony the best of the best
No worries for me. But let me say this, right after he decided to come to uk , naturally the comparisons to A.D. fired up. Now it is said that he is a better shot blocker than A.D.. Some say ufo’s exist too and i always say when i see it i will believe it. I say let Nerlens be the best Nerlens he can be, if it takes more than one year at college to really hone his skills than thats the way it is just like Jones did. A.D. arguably could be the best recruit to ever walk through UK’s recruiting doors, it is gonna be a hard act to follow for anyone . I have tempered my expectations a bit honestly.
Expectations aside this Ky team will not be like last years. This year we wont have Miller and two high quality sophomores. So big blue nation be patient and dont drink the koolaid as much as last year.
Can sip the drink, but UK fans are going to believe this can be a Final Four team because Calipari believes that
exscuse me…louiseville cardinal fans…..im sorry to say this but……please do not let your expectations get too high…..last year at the final four..that was sheer dumb luck that you all made it that far..but what happened in the end??..well im sorry to say this but….its going to happen again this year….KENTUCKY IS THE GREATEST EVER!!!! AND WE ARE THE CHAMPS…….GET USED TO IT CARDINAL FAITHFUL
WILLIE CAULY STEIN WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT !!!!!!!!!!
