OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Second-year guard DeAndre Liggins won the final roster spot for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday as the team waived Andy Rautins, Daniel Orton and Hollis Thompson.
The moves get the Thunder down to the 15-player limit for the regular season.
Liggins played in five preseason games and started twice with Thabo Sefolosha and James Harden both out with injuries. He averaged 4.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in about 20 minutes per game.
Liggins played in 17 games last season after being a second-round pick out of Kentucky in last year’s draft.
Of the training-camp invitees, Rautins got the second-most playing time and averaged seven points in four games. Thompson scored eight total points in three games and Orton scored 13 in his only appearance.

Great news for DeAndre. OKC is getting themselves a keeper.
Also, I read that Josh Harrelson made the Miami Heat roster today as well.
So proud and Happy for D.L. and his Family…
Well, that makes two all-time favorite basketball Wildcats who were named to NBA rosters today! Too, both DeAndre’s and Josh’s stories under Coach Calipari’s leadership are such special ones. Also, my favorite DeAndre moment will always be that Final-Four-clinching three against three and especially the subsequent Calipari hug (and what a special spot DeAndre won in my heart because of his past pain and how he overcame it) and DeAndre’s expression — and the best memory for Josh is probably that impressive, eye-opening performance against Louisville. Anyway, it’s great news on a sad day for my football Cats.
This is me right here. This is the payoff for Liggins and his fight to overcome and also to take care of his young family. Great for him. Keep working hard!!!
I am so happy for DeAndre, and Josh. They have both taken full advantage of opportunities in their young lives, and stand as shining examples of what can be accomplished with hard work.
so much for orton
Orton is a prime example of a kid who should have stayed another year in school. He was not ready.
Looking back, sure looks that way
