Freshman Willie Cauley-Stein said it wasn’t hard to explain why Kentucky lost at Arkansas and what was different from UK’s three-game home win streak.
“Energy. The last three games we were playing with high intensity. Everybody. Bench players were coming off with high (energy) and it was like they were starters, playing with that much energy,” Cauley-Stein said after Saturday’s game. “Today we had people that didn’t show up with the energy and it proves for us to win and move on and be successful everybody has to play with energy.”

Look UK has very reason in the world to go to Arkansas with energy and effort. We were told by Cal this week that UK has to be ready for a hand checking , physical type game . Funny we knew it, UK did not. There is a disconnect going on here folks. How in the world does UK have any right to go anywhere home or away with no energy. UK is still resume building for the tournament , and it takes no special skill to give maximum effort, you don’t have to be a great basketball player to play hard, i said it before and i say it again , this season is a wash. Not ready to play? Wow! As a coach you can only motivate so much, in the end its whats in the players chest that has to prevail.
Some of us got all excited because we had beaten two SEC scrubs and a Missouri which has a bad road record at home. According to some, we had turned the corner. The truth is that no corner was turned and that the Cats are still the same team that they have been all year. A good friend blamed the refs. The truth is that our team was out hustled and out manned. There I have written it. Painful to admit. I still that the Cats will make the NCAA tournament, but what makes me think that they will win even one game there? I guess because we are UK. Sorry, but that won’t cut it. You have to compete.
This team makes it really hard on the most loyal fans in college basketball…it rips at everything we hold dear when you won’t fight back.
The refs are part of the problem. Not just for KY but the whole SEC. That’s why its almost impossible to win on the road. Anytime Shows is the ref in a KY game our playres have no idea how to play, because they are scared of what Shows is going to call. That is one of the reasons they look bad on the road. If KY makes it to the NCAA touney don’t be surprised if the look and play very confident in the tourney.
Predicting a win over Georgia , Florida and two wins in SEC tourney. Tough to beat Arkansas at home especially with that one bird on that officiating crew.
