It’s not hard for Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook editor Chris Dortch to identify his most intriguing player on John Calipari’s new team.
“Willie Cauley-Stein. Can you imagine that dude, at 7 feet, coming at your if you’re a 5-9 cornerback? He played wide receiver for his high school, so you know he’s a great athlete. I’ve been told he’s ahead of Nerlens Noel (who of course missed 16 days of summer practice), and that he’s more advanced offensively than the coaches thought. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Cauley-Stein and Noel together on the floor,” said Dortch, who has UK No. 3 in his preseason poll.
“I think Cauley-Stein may be significantly better than people thought and can help Noel lock down the inside while also getting his share of points around the basket.”

Now if we could talk Willie into a Flat Top…” Fear The Flat Tops “…..right above the Brow.
WCS is leading in the “Most anxious to see” Poll to the right —————>
Once I saw how he got up and down the floor, I knew we had a steal…and a great kid on top of all this. Funny how he and Kyle really seem to enjoy each other’s humor. While I’m most interested in seeing how WCS pans out, I can’t wait to see those left and right hand hook shots that Big K is going to put up this year. Everyone talks about Kyle’s outside shooting but at 245/250lbs, I can see him at the pivot if Noel gets into foul trouble rather than WCS. Why leave him out on the wing defensively when 7′ WCS would create unbelievable havoc for the opposition’s wings? . At 250lbs., Kyle’s lack of quickness would seem better served at leaning on and wearing out the opposing center and driving him crazy with his assortment of old school hooks, up and under etc.–there goes the old imagination again-can hardly wait. Mark me down as “Most anxious to see the whole dat gum team in action.”
I think fans are going to love Willie too
With the way Cal has talked about him I think it’s pretty much a lock that the BBN will adopt WCS as a bona fide member very quickly.
I’m with you, Phillip. I am anxious to see all of the guys in action.
I think kyle will help us most on the outside, popping those threes to open up the driving lanes and hopefully keep opponents from saging in on the bigs. It is going to be another great year for kentucky, but not an undefeated one.
Can take a few losses and getting back to the Final Four
