Alex Poythress finds time to “give back” to Clarksville students

Tavia D. Green of the Leaf-Chronicle (leafchronicle.com) detailed how Kentucky junior-to-be Alex Poythress spent time Friday back in his hometown of Clarksville, Tenn., volunteering at Field Day for Byrns-Darden Elementary. He coached and cheered for students as they competed.

Green reported that “students from the special education class were able to be picked up by Poythress so they could dunk the ball” along with first grade and kindergarten students.

“I was in the same position in this community growing up,” Poythress told Green. “I just want to give back. I love Clarksville, because it’s my home. I see these kids growing up, and it’s a great city, environment and great place to live.”

It also shows the type of character Poythress has to spend a rare day off doing what he could to help others.

Poythress is a class act not only as a player and teammate but as a person as well. Wish him well in whatever he decides to do in life.
