Missed summer time doesn’t worry Calipari
By LARRY VAUGHT
Kentucky coach John Calipari is not concerned that two of his players — Patrick Patterson and Daniel Orton — spent the last two months in California training or that another player — Darius Miller — was gone almost a month playing for Team USA.
“I don’t care if they were in Alaska as long as they were professional about what they were doing,” Calipari said. “We are together every day for six months (during the season). I have never had a team stay together all summer. I want them to get away. I want to get away.
“Getting them away is not all bad. I want to know what guys will do when you are not watching. They have got to be self-motivated and driven. I think I have a team full of those guys. I am excited about that.
“I have my vision at the end of the day. If they are all empowered, we will have a good year. It is their team and they have to all want to work together.”
