Who might greyshirt in 2010?
Vaught’s note: Aaron Cordero runs Aaron’s UK Football Blog, a site dedicated to the University of Kentucky football. The site is updated several times per day and links articles from key writers, gives Twitter updates coaches and has interviews with recruits. Go to http://www.aaronsukfootballblog.blogspot.com. He’s shared with vaughtsviews.com his predictions about the 2010 recruiting class and this final part is his projections on who might greyshirt or not enroll at UK.

There are several incoming freshman who could make an immediate impact and some who will likely redshirt the 2010 season. However, there are also a few who might not make it to Kentucky.
Most likely to greyshirt or not enroll:
Tim Patterson (DE) was the biggest surprise in the 2010 class in my opinion. All signs indicated he would sign with Louisville. In the end, Joker Phillips was able to secure his commitment. Patterson played Linebacker in high school, but most have projected him to move to Defensive End in college. Reports are mixed on Patterson’s academic status. If he enrolls this summer, most feel he will redshirt. He has a tremendous upside due to his size and speed.
Farrington Huguenin (DE) was another late surprise by Joker Phillips. Huguenin is from South Carolina and most consider him a high risk / high reward type of player. Huguenin posted an extremely fast shuttle time at one combine and plays hard every play. If he makes it to campus he will need to work on his strength to play defensive end in the SEC, but will likely start out at Linebacker at UK. Much like Patterson, if he enrolls this summer he is a redshirt candidate too.
Donte Rumph (DE) gets placed in this category because this is the third time he has signed with UK. The staff kept their promise with Rumph and stuck with him. It also speaks volume of his potential. Because of his age, he is older than most freshman, but will have five years to play four. Rumph’s Uncle is the Defensive End Coach at Clemson and will need to get into football shape again. If he makes it on campus, everyone should be very happy for him because most people would not have shown the persistence he has. Coming out of high school, he was expected to contribute early.

Joker was in Louisville the other night and said they would not have signed Rumph for a 3rd time if they didn’t think he would qualify.

What he said on signing day, too. HOpe he is right, but still has a lot of work to do from what I am hearing
Thanks a million, again, for the football coverage, Mr. Vaught (and Aaron, of course). Also, I certainly hope Donte Rumph’s persistence is rewarded with his getting to play this season.
