Wall’s insights on Bledsoe

By LARRY VAUGHT
Kentucky freshman point guard John Wall came into this season already being projected as a potential No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA draft and was even tabbed as the national player of the year by some.

However, he’s never failed to mention how good he thinks freshman teammate Eric Bledsoe is and he

The talented freshman offered these other insights into Bledsoe.

Question: How much better is teammate Eric Bledsoe’s 3-point shooting than when he got here?
Wall: “He has improved it a lot. He has been working on it in the night time and at practice trying to make shots every day.”

Question: Are you and Bledsoe getting better at playing together considering you both are used to having the ball in your hands at point guard?
Wall: “We are doing a great job. We don’t mind taking turns. If I pitch it to him, he is going to take it to the basket and get his points and I can do the same.”

Question: So the more you two play together the better you should get as the year goes on?
Wall: “That is definitely true. If he is making shots like he can, when I penetrate they will help on me and I am going to kick it to him and he will make shots and that will be great for both of us. He will make a shot and I will get an assist. That’s not being selfish. That’s just being a great teammate and making an easy play.”

Question: Why do you wear the sleeve on your arm?
Wall: “Because I have an injury on my elbow. I have fluid and every time I fall on it, it will build up. I have had that since high school.”

Question: How good can DeMarcus Cousins be?
Wall: “If he stays out of foul trouble, he can be a dominant player every night. He’s that good. I think all of our freshmen are having to learn you  must play hard and smart all the time. We have made mistakes we shouldn’t make because we are tired. In high school, people would back away and you could finish. In college, they keep coming at you and we have not been ready for that. We still have to learn that.”

You just gotta love this young man. And how about Eric’s 3 point shooting. All summer long people said he wasn’t dependable as a shooter. What a bonus that he has worked at it and seems to be our best outside option, with Darnell on the sidelines. John is right. That will take a lot of pressure off because teams won’t be able to totally collapse on him, knowing he will just kick it out for 3.

Larry, sorry to hear that you don’t have CBSC. You are more than welcome to come on up to Northern Kentucky and watch the games at my house. We would be honored to have you. Keep up the great work.

  • UKFMLY:

This is a smart young man. Bledsoe’s ability to hit the open three will make this team a monster. I see some improvement in every game. I don’t have cbS c either is that where the next game is being shown? If so I guess it’s off to the local bar for me. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GO BLUE OR GO HOME!!!

  • Linda:

They all sound like they want the same thing…win, win, win and they are going to do it together as a team.
I don’t get that channel either, bummer.

  • larryvaught:

NO TV in Danville, either. Depending on Tom Leach and Mike Pratt

  • Linda:

I’ll listen to as much as I can but I will be at work.

  • Matt:

I’ve got a schedule that says the game will be on Fox South, but everything else I have read says CBS C only.

  • KY_Wildcat_AL:

Insight Cable providing Free preview Tues/ Wed to all their customers … only in certain areas.

I live in Somerset… no can see game, will listen only.

  • TRUBLU69:

Jim: I agree with you on Dodson…We will need that second consistant 3 point threat going forward..But bledsoe has been huge from the 3..If he starts playing more under control, He will be much more effective from three..If you don’t get in a set you can’t get those opportunities, Alot of times the passer gets it back for an open look, so far Eric has stuggled with that, He will get better control in his Game….GO BIG BLUE!!!

  • Jim Boyers:

Wildcat AL, you have Insight and it doesn’t carry CBSC? I have Insight in Northern KY and it does. What gives? Sounds like the people in your area need to raise some stink about that. If enough people get on them, they will find a way to get these games on. It’s happened up here before.

  • Scott Hunter:

Any word on Liggins? I would like to see what he could do in this offense

  • Larry Vaught:

No word yet on any additional TV, so looks like a lot of us will be listening to Tom and Mike.
As for Liggins, still nothing yet. But if he doesn’t play this week, then who knows if he will ever play. I do expect Dodson to play

  • TRUBLU69:

Maybe I’m the only one with this View…I LOVE the fact this isn’t being splashed all over the place, At least we know that the coach is not letting the players “VOTE” if a player or players get to stay..Keep it in the Locker room..GO DODSON!! GO LIGGINS!! and GO BIG BLUE!!!
