Cheerleader Wall no surprise to Patterson

By LARRY VAUGHT

Patrick Patterson was not surprised that freshman John Wall handled himself so well during the NCAA check into his eligibility and was a perfect teammate for Monday’s exhibition game even though he could not play.

“He was just a cheerleader cheering his teammates on. He was being helpful and providing leadership from the bench. He was talking to us in the huddle being the leader he is and trying to tell us what to do and trying to get us more motivated. He was just cheering. He is a great cheerleader and teammate,” Patterson said.

None of that surprised Patterson.

“It is the same thing I learned when I first met him. He is cool, calm and collected. He knows he can’t play and he’s fine with that. He is here to support his teammates and also being a leader even when he’s not on the court. He is handling everything like a true man would do,” Patterson said.

Anything he can’t do?

“He’s not good at chess,” Patterson said. “Actually, he doesn’t play chess is why he’s not good, but I think he would be good at anything he does.

Wall’s not good at chess, because he doesn’t play chess. THAT is funny. Patrick is always pretty good at those one-liners. Patrick The Entertainer. He needs to remind everyone that he will be here all season and that they should drive safely and remember to tip their server.
How lucky are we to have him? This young man is pure GOLD!!! Box up the Wooden award and postmark it for Lexington, because it is coming HERE!! GO BIG BLUE!!!

I’m personally not too good at surfing or skiing.

PATTERSON would say it’s because I don’t participate!

Gotta just love Patrick… Go Cats.

Larry Nice artical as always. Altho the game last night was sloppy I still had so much fun watching it becuse I know this is a work in proggres. We have not seen this much talent on the floor in a long while and it feels good to know that my beloved cats are on there way back! As for Pat you could not ask for a better person not only is he a outstanding player but a great person as well. It will be hard to see him leave after this year. I so want him to have a good season, I have a great feeling he will. GO CATS!

John Wall, the name at first glance brings me to think of all of the hype, glitz and bling that surrounded him in his recruitment process. But, the John Wall that he has shown us since coming on campus here at UK is one of a young man, that seems to have his head and his heart in the right place. Much like Patrick Patterson who is one of the finest young men to ever come to Kentucky. If Wall continues on this “right track heading”. He too, will be considered one of the finest young men, along with the many others, to ever set foot at UK. I applaud John Wall and Patrick Patterson for being who they are…..

I tend to watch a team’s psychology. This UK team seems to be gelling very well as this article suggests. You can check elsewhere, too. Patterson’s named Cousins and Bledsoe Yogi and Boo-boo. Very Nice. It hints at a band of brothers mentality. I remember watching a UK UL game years ago. UofL was ahead but Kentucky was making a run. At the time out I saw Louisville players yelling at each other. I told my buddies, Louisville was doomed. They were in that game. Cal’s right, players have to trust and in his words, love each other. Based on what the press has reported, I think this may be happening. That bodes well because talent will get you only so far if you can’t stand the guy next to you.

  • Larry Vaught:

Wayne, Marty and Richard — all of you make great points. It is hard to believe that this team gets along so well so quickly, but they really do. I think you are right that this is really going to make the season so much fun and give the Cats a solid chance to make the Final Four
