Mom: Patterson not driving a new truck yet

Tywanna Patterson says a published report that her son, University of Kentucky junior Patrick Patterson, drove to Wednesday’s Blue-White Game in a new black Lincoln Mark LT is not true.
“Pat did not even drive to the game,” she said. “After the game, we (his parents) waited for him and took him and two other people out to eat. We were there late waiting for him to get through with media (interviews). Then we took him out. There was no new truck there for him to drive away in.”
Patterson’s mother did acknowledge that her husband had finally agreed to get Patrick a new vechicle “to reward him for all his hard work.” However, they still have it.
“We got him one as a gift. But with the rain and snow and all the weather we can have and then them going to be traveling so much to games, we just decided to hold onto it for a while before we let him have it,” she said. “That’s why I don’t know how anybody could say he drove away in his new truck after the game last night. That’s so unfair and had nothing to do with the game or how he played.
“He does have a new truck, but it is one we got for him and one we have not given to him yet.”
She said she has been told the outlet will correct its mistake.

It’s none of Jerry Tipton’s freaking business what the Patterson’s do or buy etc…. Tipton is such a low life, no class geek who makes up lies. What an idiot.
Jerry should be suspended for his failure to get the facts correct prior to writing the article.
Tipton didn’t CARE if he had his facts straight or not. Everyone familiar with the ins and outs of college athletics knows that if someone reads an article about a star collegiate player with a new Lincoln SUV, that will raise eyebrows. Jerry didn’t come out and SAY anything specifically, but he knew the innuendo would seep out. Not only that, but to besmirch a family as classy as the Pattersons, not to mention someone who has meant so much to the UK program as Patrick, is beyond low. The fact that his parents bought him a vehicle has absolutely NO merit to what his article was supposed to be about. Tipton belongs writing for the National Enquirer.
People actually still read the Lexington Herald? I stopped years ago and Tipton is the reason why. I do agree however, he’d be much better writing for the national enquirer or perhaps writing books with Pat Forde.
Larry, you are by far the best sports writer this state has. It’s not even close. I enjoy reading your work very much. Jerry could learn a lesson or two from reading your work as well. He is not a journalist, only a blogger with a bad attitude. Someone must have treated him pretty bad as a child.
I am just glad Tywanna felt comfortable enough to call me to offer an explanation for fans here to see because she was very concerned about what this could do to UK’s image. Just a remarkable lady
Tipton is a tool who has hurt that paper more then he has attempted to hurt this program. Thank you Larry for being the very best in reporting fairly on so many levels!!!
Larry, Tywanna should utilize every avenue available to her to ruin Jerry Tipton, after what he tried to do. He has even sunk so far as to intimate that Patrick Patterson is a cheater. the man should NOT be suspended, he should be flat out FIRED.

You know what really gets me mad. That poor excuse of a reporter was tweeting from the blue white game like he was a fan. He is so two faced and such a liar. I wish he would move to NC or Tn. They wouldn’t put up with his antics. If Patrick’s parents buy him a car it none of anyone’s business. Parents have been buy their children cars for decades. How can Tipton even show his face at the games and in Lexington. He won’t apologize, he is not man enough to do it. I’m sure that other so called sports journalist will come up with something soon too. Would it do any good to write to the Lexington Hearald and complain about Tipton? That is just what he wants, more publicity for him.

DaveK you would love Tywanna if you got a chance to meet her. One of the nicest ladies I have been around, but she’s also a true parent and wants what is best for her son. I admire her because she’s not afraid to speak her mind.
It is always great to see someone stick up for their kids. The entire Patterson family seems like a strong and well grounded bunch. I would just like to reiterate how thankful we are that they did such a wonderful job raising Patrick and to thank them for allowing him to be a part of the UK family.
UK should shut out Jerry Tipton and Alan Cutler for their embarrassing antics and see if they are able to earn a living without their bread and butter….UK. Revoke their credentials NOW!!! Contact the UK sports media office and request that UK cancel their credentials until they quite embarrassing the University.

Thanks Larry for again being superior to the hl cj, and espn when it comes to covering our Cats. It is a shame that the local papers in the states 2 largest cities sink to the level of garbage journalism. You would think they write for the inquirer. I also noted how Jonh Clay says this situation is being blown out of proportion. I wonder what he would think if it was his son & his family values in question. It is truely a shame when the media(not you) does stuff like that. Write a flat out lie then not write a flat out apology. Sorry for rambling. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GO BLUE OR STAY HOME

Jerry Tiption said he assumed Patrick had driven his new vehicle to and from the game and reported as such. jerry did not have to assume, just ask! Needless to say, Buster and I will not be doing interviews with Jerry Tipto anyloner.

From day one that he walked on campus, Patrick Patterson has been a class act. I have said to my husband many times that I would like to write Patrick’s mom a note and congratulate her and Mr. Patterson on raising such a fine young man. Through the course of the last 2 years, it has become evident that the “apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”. Buster and Tywanna Patterson are such classy people, and I love that they also stand up for what is right instead of just sitting quietly. The BBN is SO lucky to have them and Patrick. I’m not much of an NBA fan, but I definitely will be a fan of whatever team Patrick Patterson plays for! As icing on the cake, I had the opportunity to attend the women’s clinic. Patrick was so gracious. When I left, he was still signing autographs, and I have no doubt that he stood there until everyone had an autograph and picture. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, I know you know it already, but your son is definitely one to be proud of in many many ways! I’m so proud he is a Wildcat!
