A documentary on Kentucky’s 1998 national championship season. Winter weather projections. Kentucky Sportsman of the Year. College basketball, volleyball and football.

Those are some of the topics I’ll be on air on three radio shows this week to share with you.

It starts at 7:15 a.m. Thursday on WPBK (102.9 FM) in Stanford with Amanda Marr on at 7:20 to talk about Christmas time in Sevierville, Tenn., and all there is to see and do there. Next at 7:30 will be Lexington Herald-Leader Mark Story, the man who puts together nomination list for Kentucky Sportsman of the Year and writes about the winner.

Story also covers both UK football and basketball, so certainly we will discuss both of those.

At 9 a.m. I hope on WKYB (107.5 FM) for an hour that will start with former UK basketball player Cameron Mills talking about his documentary on the 1998 national championship season. A show will air on Kentucky TV stations Dec. 25 with part of what is in the documentary and Mills will share a lot of insights on what was truly a special season for UK fans — and him as a player.

Bill Meck

Next at about 9:20 will be Bill Meck, chief meteorologist at WLEX-TV since 1999. He has visited with over 100,00 school children for his Bill’s Weather 101 presentations as he once visited nearly 100 schools per year and still does about 50.

I want to ask him what might lie ahead this winter and what goes into making those forecasts we love — or hate.

The final 15 minutes will feature Danville Mayor Mike Perros to talk mainly about the Title Town rally Monday night honoring the state championship Danville and Boyle County football teams. Friday will also be Title Town day in Danville.

On Friday from 9-10 a.m. I get to host the Leach Report for Tom Leach while he heads to New York with the UK basketball team.

Sporting News columnist Mike DeCourcy, a Leach Report fixture on Fridays, will lead off the show to talk about the Cats and more. The second part of the show will feature Christi Thomas of the UK Sports Network where she hosts the UK football pregame show and often does games for the UK women’s basketball team. We will also be talking about the Sweet 16 volleyball match between UK and BYU at noon Friday.

So if you get a chance, settle in and give the shows a listen — I think the guests will make you glad you did.
