Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and thank you for giving me a chance to do what I love to do

Getting to spend time with people like Allison and Jacob Tamme is what I love about my job. (Gary Moyers Photo)

Being a University of Kentucky sports fan — or fan of any other college or high school team — can have its ups and downs. The highs can be memorable, the lows can be devastating. But bottom line is that we should all be thankful we can enjoy sports and watching student-athletes compete.

I’m not a big pro sports fan. Give me high school or college sports any day. I like watching athletes who love competing and playing for their team. I know not every high school or college athlete is that way, but most are. I’m thankful I have had a job for over 40 years that has enabled me to share stories about so many of these amazing young women and men with you.

John Short is a UK fan I enjoy talking with.

We live in a great country and often take our freedom and blessings for granted. I’m so thankful today for so many things, including those who have jobs that keep me safe.

But I am also thankful that so many of you — for whatever reason — enjoy listening to me or reading my work. My job is a labor of love and it’s due in part to the athletes I get to cover but also due in large part to listeners and readers just like you.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
