Could Jarred Vanderbilt be back from his foot injury quicker than originally anticipated?
Kentucky announced on Sept. 30 that Vanderbilt, a freshman forward, had a foot injury that would require surgery and sideline him about three months. He had missed part of his final two high schools seasons with injuries and chose rest and rehab last year over surgery.
But this time he needs surgery and coach John Calipari indicated originally it would be probable for him to return for SEC play in January.
However, during UK’s Pro Day that was televised Sunday, Calipari said Vanderbilt was out with a foot injury “which looks like less than we thought” before the TV cameras turned their full attention to him.
Calipari’s statement about Vanderbilt came while announcer Sean Farnham was still talking to the TV audience and Calipari was talking to the NBA personnel at Rupp Arena.
