Kentucky seemed to find its niche last year during a win over South Carolina where its running game took control of the outcome.
But what about this year? Kentucky has struggled offensively and South Carolina is 2-0 going into its home opener Saturday night in Columbia, S.C.
“They’re definitely better than they were last year. A lot of those guys were young and Will’s done a great job of getting those guys doing the right things ant the right time. He mixes things up; he’s never going to make you feel comfortable. So it’s a huge challenge for us,” Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran said Tuesday.
“It’s SEC on the road. It doesn’t get any better than that. But they’ve got a really good defense and we’re going to have to do a great job of protecting the football. First downs are going to be tough.
“We’re going to have to be tough and make sure our defense stays off the field. They do a great job in the red zone. We’ve got to make sure we get seven points when we’re down there.”
