Texas point guard Quentin Grimes did not surprise Rivals.com basketball recruiting writer Krysten Peek when he listed Kentucky among seven schools he’s still considering.
The 6-4 Grimes, who got a scholarship offer from UK coach John Calipari last month, also has Kansas, Arizona, Texas, Texas A&M, Marquette and Baylor in his top seven schools.
“I’ve seen (UK assistant coach) Kenny Payne at some of his games,” Peek said. “It’ll be a tough get (for UK) with Arizona, Kansas and Texas leading the way.
“I think he’ll take an official (visit) there just to check it out and see the atmosphere. I can’t see him and (UK point guard target) Immanuel (Quickley) playing together in the backcourt, though.”
Grimes has a visit scheduled to Kansas for Sept. 29-30. He has no other visits planned.
Grimes averaged 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in six games on the Adidas Gauntlett this summer.
ESPN college basketball analyst Seth Greenberg is a Grimes fan.
“Besides being an elite player this young man is the total package. Whoever gets him gets a special person,” Greenberg posted on Twitter.
