Sporting News columnist Mike DeCourcy will join myself and Tim Estes on WPBK (102.9 FM) Thursday from 7:30-8 a.m.
DeCourcy has been a college basketball columnist at Sporting News, for over 20 years. He is a member of the United States Basketball Writers Hall of Fame — and should be because there is no one better at covering college basketball than him.
He’s also a contributor for the Big Ten Network.
DeCourcy has known Kentucky coach John Calipari for years and before the 2015-16 season he had an exclusive five-part series with Calipari.
He was also the first to tell me before the 2011-12 season that he thought despite the one-and-done nature of Calipari’s recruits that UK would win the national title — and he was right.
He was also the first to tell me not to pay attention to Tyler Ulis’ size because he could play at Kentucky — and he was right.
When Kentucky fans were questioning UK’s defense this season, DeCourcy (@tsnmike) took to Twitter with this reply: “For final time, Kentucky starts four freshmen and ranks No. 15 in nation in defensive efficiency. That’s ahead of 340 teams.”
Join us for the show Thursday (wpbkfm.com) or the podcast after the show.
And if you have a question for DeCourcy, send it my way on Twitter to @vaughtsviews.
