Kentucky football’s Junior Day got off to a rousing start Saturday when highly regarded Ohio defensive end Alex Reigelsperger announced his verbal commitment to UK on Twitter and Kentucky Sports Radio.
The 6-5, 235-pound defensive end from Huber Heights, Ohio, is a four-star recruit that ESPN ranks as the No. 14 player at his position nationally in the 2018 recruiting class. He’s also ranked No. 166 overall at all positions in the 2018 recruiting class.
He had made numerous visits to UK and liked UK recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow.
He had offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Reigelsperger is from the same high school as UK freshman defensive back Tobias Gilliam
His high school team, four-star receiver L’Christian “Blue” Smith is also visiting Lexington today. He is regarded as the No. 1 athlete and No. 23 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
