Visitors to Wilderness Trail Distillery’s Holiday Open House have the opportunity to win the opportunity to purchase one of the coveted bottles of its first release of bourbon.

Those attending the holiday open house 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 can register for a drawing to purchase a bottle of the first release when the distillery bottles its four-year-old product.

“This position is locked in to purchase Bottle #29 on the Limited Edition Bourbon Release in December 2017,” says Wilderness Trail Distillery owner Shane Baker. “This is a coveted bottle placement as currently there are more than 5,000 bottles reserved by Family Tree Members.”

In December 2017, the distillery will release only 200 bottles to the reserve list. Another of the distillery’s first barrels will continue to age to a 10-year-old bourbon.

The next limited releases will begin in late January to early February of 2018.

During the Holiday Open House, the distillery at 4095 Lebanon Road also will feature gift shop discounts in its 1859 visitors’ center. As usual, distillery tours are offered 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning each hour. Tours last about 45 minutes. Cost is $7 or half price for ages 55 and older. Veterans always tour for free. Tastings always are free and available anytime during the open house.

Shoppers can try the distillery’s signature cocktails made with Blue Heron Vodka and Harvest Rum. The distillery will offer a new drink with Harvest Rum, which is made with Kentucky sorghum. Sleigh Rummer is a warm Kentucky coffee drink.
