After Kentucky’s 27-24 loss to Georgia Saturday night, coach Mark Stoops got a text that did not surprise him.
It was from UK basketball coach John Calipari supporting him.
“I’m never surprised getting a text from Cal. I would be surprised if I don’t,” Stoops said Monday. “He’s always like that. He’s always been good, because he’s always been there with supportive texts.”
Calipari noted that he sent this to Stoops: “Losing stinks, but having no hope is worse… Because of you, now we have hope.”
Calipari was right. Kentucky lost but the team does not seem to have hopes for a better future.
“Believe it or not, Cal’s even been there before, many years ago (with a struggling team). No, I’m teasing,” Stoops said. “Because we all have tough times as coaches.
“He’s always been supportive, so I always appreciate him and his support. He’s been a good friend.”

It was great to go into a game and not being sure who would win. Just thinking we were good enough to have a shot at Georgia was great. Yes, we had some missed opportunities, but that is how sports go. I have never seen anyone play a perfect game, but it is sure nice when they come close.
I think we have come a long way this year and much improved from the first 3 games.
Next year looks very promising with everything we have coming back.
You’re spot on Old Fan. This team has a bright future. Stoops has changed the culture of UK football. All that remains is changing the culture of the fanbase.
GO CATS!!!!!!
