Marshall County Hoop Fest opens Thursday night

4:00pm Marshall County (KY) v Massac County (IL) girls

Mar – The Lady Marshals return three starters this season, one being senior Hannah Langhi who will be counted on to provide a great offensive and defensive presence. Also returning this season is sharpshooter Miyah Davis, who has proven herself as one of the top shooters in the region.

Mas – Massac returns three of its seniors from last year’s team, guards Taylor Stoner, Natalie Hosman, and Emilee Troutt. Although a rebuilding year for the Lady Patriots, they are hoping to make a run in their Region tournament this season.

5:30pm Marshall County (KY) v Massac County (IL)

Mar – The Marshals are coming into the season returning four players who have started previously, all are juniors. Dylan Walters and Skyler Smith will be counted on to fill a scoring void left from the now-graduated DJ Pigg. Athletic senior Tristen Prange will provide plenty of athleticism to contribute to this team.

Mas – Massac is returning two leading scorers in JT Weber and Noah Farmer, both SIU baseball signees. The Patriots also return seniors Graham Lawson and Darian Roundtree along with juniors Caleb Duckworth and Isaiah Thompson.

7:00pm Graves County (KY) v Christian County (KY)

GC – Graves returns four starters from last season, including 7’0” senior Chris Vogt (NKU signee), who broke the state single-season block record last year. Also returning is sophomore sharpshooter Ryan Mathis, sophomore Jordyn Naranjo, junior Trevor Grant, and senior Brady Wetherington, all will provide valuable minutes for the Eagles.

CC – Christian County comes into this season as the reigning Region 2 champions and look to defend their title with senior Jaylen Sebree leading the veteran-heavy team. Sebree, a Coastal Carolina signee, will be backed by juniors Cory Trice and DeTorrion Ware (holds offer from SEMO).

8:30pm Aspire Academy (AZ) v Sunrise Christian (KS)

AA – Aspire Academy, a new program based out of Arizona, features a tall, powerful frontcourt. 6’10” Makhtar Gueye (UAB signee), 7’0” Assane Ndiaye (2018, offers include Old Dominion and Rutgers), and 6’9” senior Rodrigue Andela from Senegal, will prove to be a force to be reckoned with. Also to keep an eye on is sophomore Dane Quest, a player who can easily get to and score in the post.

SCA – The Buffaloes return senior Isiah Jasey (Texas A&M signee), who will be looked upon to produce in the post and provide leadership. They also feature senior Chidozie Ndu (Sam Houston St. signee), juniors Khaleem Bennett, Isaiah Bujdoso, and Marek Nelson, who have all picked up D-I offers, and sophomore guard Malik Hall, who will likely pick up offers this season.
