Mike Renfro of Verona has been a Kentucky fan all his life and was happy he got a chance to go to UK’s game with Stephen F. Austin Friday night in Rupp Arena. However, he didn’t expect the night to be quite as special as it turned out to be.
Not only did he watch UK win and see guard De’Aaron Fox have a double-double in his UK debut, but he also got his picture made with UK fan Ashley Judd.
“I went to my first UK game January 21, 1996, for a game against TCU. I am also a member of the Committee of 101. So my love for UK is a passion,” Renfro, 38, said.
But how did that lead to seeing Judd?
“I got to meet Ashley cause a friend has seats down low behind the UK bench and asked me to come see him. She was sitting in front of him,” Renfro said. “We ended up sitting there cause he didn’t use his other seats for the game.”
Renfro said while he knew plenty about Judd, he was impressed by how “genuine” she was with him.
“Very down to earth, not a stuck-up person,” Renfro said.
He said he has no special plans for the picture but his smile makes it obvious he certainly enjoyed getting his picture with the actress.
