Denzil Ware: “I just feel like everybody had lost faith in us.”

Here’s some of what Denzil Ware had to say after Kentucky’s win over Vanderbilt.
On Vanderbilt’s last drive down the field and what he was thinking…
“These boys can’t score, these boys can’t score, these boys can’t score. I’m trying to go home and have fun. You know tonight is homecoming and I just wanted to remember this night with a big victory.”

On what the defense has been doing to turn around this season …
“I was very confident and I never gave up on my team and I never gave up on my coaches. We just really wanted to prove everyone wrong because I feel like everybody had lost faith in us. We are going to keep continuing to do this for our fans because at the end of the day our fans are going to have our back no matter what.”

On how they worked together to win…
“We just believe in one another. We took coach’s plan and we just wanted to execute it. Vanderbilt’s offense on that last drive was great. They scared us a little bit, but you know I tell everybody all the time the best 11 players, whoever wants it most is going to win. Tonight we just wanted it more.”

On what was motivating them…
“We just wanted to prove everybody wrong. I just feel like everybody had lost faith in us. Everything we did tonight and this week we’re going to keep continuing to do for our fans because our fans have our back no matter what.”

  1. Ugly win, but it’s a win.
On the last drive, I was expecting them to get beat in OT. We just need a little more consistent passing game and it would not have come down to the last drive.

  2. More efficiency on 3rd down too, 4 -15 not good. Thank goodness UK was 3-3 on 4th down and rushed the football 20 more times than Vandy did.

    1. To be fair Larry, UK had a lot of 1st and second down 1st downs. When you add those in, the numbers don’t look as bad.

  3. Remember 06. It was the same thing. Rough start… us against at the world… Marcus McClinton’s rap song to quiet the naysayers. I like where we’re heading. The guys believe in each other now. Good stuff.

    GO CATS!!!!

    1. It would be great if it were a repeat of ’06.
