Kash Daniel “getting better every week”

By LARRY VAUGHT

Freshman linebacker Kash Daniel is making progress that could get him on the field more.

“Kash is a player that takes the game very seriously. Kash has worked extremely hard. Kash is athletically ready to play this year. He’s big, he’s fast, he’s physical. He’s still picking up the scheme, but I see him getting better every week,” UK defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot said.

Daniel did get more playing time in  last week’s win over South Carolina in relief of starting middle linebacker Courtney Love.

“We wanted to get him a few more (snaps) than we did, but as you know the game was always so close and it was always so tight and every possession was so important that we didn’t get him quite as many reps as we had planned on,” head coach Mark Stoops said.

“But he did play a couple series and is doing some better things. And we need to continue to get him on the field.”

I like this kid. I like his mentality and attitude. I don’t know him personally but I strongly suspect that he’s the kind of kid that will get back up, spit the dirt out of his mouth and hit you harder if he ever gets knocked down. Sadly, as a Freshman that is getting the attention of the coaching staff, he will probably be gone in the NFL draft before he’s a senior. I think this kid could be special if he stays healthy.
