Herald-Leader pushing back press time to include more UK game coverage

By LARRY VAUGHT

Often some Kentucky fans are critical of the Lexington Herald-Leader for its University of Kentucky coverage. However, as a former newspaper writer for 41 years — well, that’s a story for another day about why that ended — I know this e-mail I got Friday shows the Herald’s commitment to providing all the UK content it can for readers:

Dear Lexington Herald-Leader subscriber,

Saturday night is University of Kentucky first home football game. The Lexington Herald-Leader provides award winning coverage of University of Kentucky sports. To keep our reporting of University of Kentucky sports at the level you expect, we will be delaying our press start for Sunday newspapers. This gives our sports staff the time needed to report on the game. Your home delivery will be later then normal this Sunday due to the game coverage.

Thank you for being a Lexington Herald-Leader subscriber.

Thank you,
Lexington Herald-Leader

I received the same e-mail. Since they moved their printing operation out of Lexington, the paper has been delivered later and later in Danville, at least at my house. Last Sunday we didn’t get the paper until after 10 am. Maybe I shouldn’t even check the box until Monday this week!

Same here Karen. Got it late last Sunday, but nothing carriers can do. Same issue our paper — well our paper when I still worked there — had when printing moved to Winchester. Never good for subscriber
