Kentucky released its two-deep depth chart for Saturday’s opening game with Southern Mississippi and it contained a few surprises.

First, the starter at running back is listed as JoJo Kemp or Boom Williams. No, that’s not a huge deal because both are going to play a lot. But it shows offensive coordinator Eddie Gran is true to his word about no one having a starting job guaranteed.

At one receiver, either Dorian Baker — last year’s second leading receiver — or redshirt freshman Tavin Richardson is listed as the starter. Richardson has been superb in practice.

At another receiver spot, Ryan Timmons is listed No.1 but behind him is sophomore David Bouvier, walk-on receiver from Lexington Catholic who has yet to play in a game.

At middle linebacker, Nebraska transfer Courtney Love has been the talk of preseason camp just like he was in the spring. Yet the starter is listed as Love or freshman Kash Daniel of Paintsville. At weakside linebacker, it’s either sophomore Jordan Jones or redshirt freshman Eli Brown.

In the secondary, true freshmen Jordan Griffin and Davonte Robinson are listed as the backup for Derrick Baity.

One interesting note from Mark Stoops today was that he hopes to redshirt junior college offensive lineman Tate Leavitt, who many thought would be the starting left tackle. Instead, he’s been moved to guard.

True freshman Landon Young is listed as the left tackle backup for Cole Mosier.

I did catch Stoop’s press conference today and found it difficult to stay awake. Hopefully, he does have the team better prepared and with more confidence to kick off this season. It appeared that he was wanting his coffee cup to be a little bigger than it was. Good luck Cats!!

    Are you for real?
I’ve seen many so- called “fans ” but your comments approach those of a drunken Louisville booster.
