Remember former Kentucky defensive lineman Ricky Abren of Hopkinsville? Abren and Jacob Tamme were two players that then UK coach Guy Morriss did not have in his recruiting class that UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart asked Rich Brooks to call immediately when he was hired as UK’s new coach.
Now Abren needs help from BBN based on this GoFundMe post by his family:
“On August 3rd, in Tallahassee FL, our brother Rick Abren was injured in a fall. As a result he fractured his back in two different places leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Rick is a father of five children, and was the sole provider for his household that also includes his wife. He lives in Louisville, Ky, so his wife is forced to travel back and forth from KY to FL to be there for him while he is healing from surgery.
“We are extremely blessed and fortunate to have Rick alive, but his injuries have left a huge financial void that his family needs help filling. The Abren family needs help with medical, travel, food, & everyday life. Their home and vehicle will also need to be wheelchair accessible until God heals our brother. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated! Help spread the word!”
His family is accepting donations to offset the medical bills and travel costs. Go to https://www.gofundme.com/2qfa47tc?rcid=d50804285be411e6a4bdbc764e052a98 if you would like to help a former Wildcat.
