Doing some preliminary work for a story I will be writing for Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook about Kentucky’s 2016-17 team and came across this little tidbit. Sure I probably used it before — and many of you already knew it — but thought it was worth sharing again.
With Bam Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox, Sacha Killeya-Jones and Malik Monk’s appearance in the McDonald’s All-American Game, UK has signed 25 players during the John Calipari era who have been named to the prestigious high school event, more than any other school in the country during that time period.
Four players or more from all but two signing classes have been tabbed McDonald’s All-Americans during the Calipari era, including six in the 2013 class.
Kentucky has signed 57 McDonald’s All-Americans since the team began in 1977.
