Kentucky coach John Calipai  might sometimes have too much time to think during the offseason as he did while going back and forth to Spain to watch potential UK recruits play for Team USA.

The UK coach recently laid out some hopes and expectations he had for next year’s team on his website,

And he set the bar pretty high for his team:

“I want us to the best and most efficient offensive team, which most of last season we were. I want us to the best defensive team that looks to pitch shutouts. I want us to be the most exciting team.

“I want us to be the program that develops players far better than everybody and prepares them to have success in the NBA and in life. I want to be the program that best develops players to be servant leaders. I want them to create a love of learning, and a curious mind that lasts a lifetime.

“Basically, we want it all. We want to be the gold standard in everything we do. The ultimate compliment is then to be emulated by other programs.”

  1. I want all those things too, but at the top of my list is to raise the national championship trophy on the first Monday in April.

    1. Amen Professor

  2. I would like to see a UK basketball team stay together for 3 or 4 years, with the talent recruited, and win maybe two or three national championships for UK. We would get to know and remember the player’s name before he ship’s out to the NBA. Good luck with that.

  3. Catch, then surpass UCLA in NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS…..however you thinks best Coach Cal. ” That’s all I want “
