The following is my interview with Willie Cauley-Stein in Pikeville Tuesday.

Q: “What is your most memorable college basketball season and why?”
A: “I would have to probably say, probably my junior season, just going 38-1. The fun that we had in that season was the best.”

Q: “Do you have any words of advice for the incoming UK class?”
A: “Work. Work everyday on your game. Try not to get distracted, just keep on working and play for each other.”

Q: “What does it feel like to come back to the Bluegrass state?”
A: “it’s home. It’s just like When you leave college and go back home. It’s kind of what it feels like.”

Q: “What was the biggest adjustment when you began to play basketball in the NBA opposed to college?”
A: “How much free time you have and just always working on your game. Mastering your skill set.”

When I asked Willie how he would describe the Big Blue Nation he used one word, but that one word holds such a significant meaning in each player’s life who has played at the University of Kentucky: family.

I would recommend fans of Kentucky basketball to attend Cauley-Stein’s next two autograph signings. The signings are being conducted by Pro Player Solutions, and when Pro Player Solutions conducts the signings you can guarantee a great experience and they make it their effort to ensure fans will never be disappointed.

The dates for the upcoming signings are listed below

Friday, June 17th
6:00-7:30 at AllSports in Lexington

Saturday, June 18th
2:00-3:30 at Elizabethtown Mall

  1. Gotta love Willie.

  2. Willie was as good an athlete as I have ever seen at UK. He could truly guard all five positions. One lasting memory that I have of him is running down the sideline stride for stride with Notre Dame’s point guard and hounding him into a difficult shot in the 2014 NCAA tourney.

  3. Willie (WCS), will always be our Kentucky Son….Great Player and even a Better Person.
