Kentucky got a needed boost in its football recruiting with the verbal commitment from junior quarterback Jarren Williams of Central Gwinnett (Ga.) High School Sunday.
He tweeted he was “glad to be part of the Wildcat family” but probably not as glad as coach Mark Stoops and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow were to have him after having Mac Jones, Russ Yeast, James Hudson and Michael Warren all de-commit from UK’s 2017 recruiting class recently.
The 6-3 Williams is not just an ordinary player. He already had 10 scholarship offers and picked UK over Florida State and Louisville. He told Paul Thomas of the Gwinnett Daily Post that UK’s facilities impressed him and noted that he was familiar with the success Tim Couch had at UK.
He threw for 1,650 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as the starter for Shiloh as a sophomore before transferring to Central Gwinnett.
