Oklahoma point guard Trae Young continues to show why Kentucky coach John Calipari would like to have him in his 2017 recruiting class.
The 6-2 Young has had a solid month in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League and averaged 25.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists in four wins for Mokan Elite squad in Virginia over the weekend.
He had a triple-double (19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists) and 36 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in another game.
Young says Kentucky, Kansas and Oklahoma continue to recruit him the hardest. He’s averaged 20.8 points and 7.2 assists per game in 11 Nike EYBL games.
He had been rumored as a potential package deal with AAU teammate Michael Porter Jr., who also got an early offer from Calipari. However, Washington recently hired Porter’s father as an assistant coach and Porter’s younger brother has already verbally committed to Washington.
