The postseason high school all-star basketball season ends Friday with the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game will air on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. and will feature Kentucky signees Bam Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox, Wenyen Gabriel and Malik Monk.
Adebayo, who was recently named the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, was the only player in the McDonalds All American Game to have a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He’s being counted on by UK fans to provide the consistent inside play next year that Kentucky lacked this season. He was selected for the Nike Hoop Summit game but elected not to play.
Fox has played in both all-star games. He had two points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals at the McDonalds Game but impressed scouts with his practice workouts. He had nine points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals at the Nike Hoop Summit.
Gabriel did not play in the McDonald’s Game but had two points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and blocked a shot at the Nike Hoop Summit.
Monk contributed 11 points, four assists, one steal and one block at the McDonald’s Game.
Fox and Monk are being counted on to replace Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray in UK’s backcourt next season.
