DES MOINES — Isaiah Briscoe kind of talked about Stony Brook standout Jameel Warney, who went to the same high school as him, here Wednesday.

Q. Isaiah, tell us about why you chose Kentucky; but more importantly, what can you tell us about Jameel Warney of Stony Brook who you grew up with in the same town?
ISAIAH BRISCOE: Growing up I always watched Kentucky basketball along with Duke and North Carolina, but my senior year coming around and Coach Cal came down to PCM and when I went and took a visit to Lexington I had Tyler (Ulis) and (Devin) Booker as my hosts and when I went there it felt like family and it was something I wanted to be part of.

Q. Jameel?
ISAIAH BRISCOE: Jameel is a great player. We went to the same high school and that’s it.

Q. Have you played against him?
ISAIAH BRISCOE: Everybody, in the summertime we play pick-up games and things like that.

Q. What can you say about his game?

  1. Thursday can’t get here soon enough. It seems like the boys are fired up, are ready to go, and do not take SB lightly. Will Poythress be able to accept and take on the challenge of Werney (not sure of spelling)? He and Lee continue to be my biggest concerns. I think the rest of the team will represent themselves very nicely. Lee isn’t as talented, but if can manage to score 8-10 pts. and if Poy can find a way to get 10-15 we should be able to take them out by 15-20 or more. Maybe a bigger concern will be the ability of both to stop committing these senseless and obvious fouls. Good Luck Cats!!
