Kentucky closes the regular season Saturday by hosting LSU and might have junior forward Derek Willis back then.

He sprained his ankle during UK’s overtime loss at Texas A&M and has not played in the last three games. He did dress and warm up with the team Tuesday night at Florida, but he did not play even though media members there reported that he looked more mobile during his time on the court before the game.

“That’s what somebody said to me, but I wouldn’t have played him, unless he asked me,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said after the game.

So will he be back soon?

“We’ll see. When we get back tomorrow they’ll tell me,” Calipari said Tuesday night.

  1. Not sure what Coach Calipari is thinking, but I would like to see Derek get some minutes, even if limited, on Saturday to test his ankle. However, if there is any question about his recovery, Derek is needed in the post season, not against LSU. To err on the side of caution would seem more appropriate.
