I have no idea what has been Kentucky Sports Radio’s highest day for ratings, but today could well be a record-setting day for host Matt Jones and Ryan Lemond on the show.
Jones has persuaded Katina Powell to join him on the show. The show runs 10 a.m. to 12 noon daily and Powell will join the show at 11 a.m.
She’s the one who wrote the book, “Breaking Cardinal Rules,” that alleged she attended more than 20 sex parties inside the basketball players’ dorm at Louisville from 2010 to 2014 that were arranged by former Louisville director of basketball operations and graduate assistant Andre McGee.
She said a group that included her two daughters were paid thousands of dollars and given tickets to basketball games in exchange for sex with Louisville players and recruits.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino has continued to insist he knows nothing about the allegations. Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich originally said in August he would not “turn my back” on McGee and said he would be “shocked” if McGee was involved in any way.
Last week Louisville announced, though, it was imposing a postseason ban on Jurich’s recommendation based on information found in the investigation.
Jones certainly will try to get Powell to tell even more of her story if she wants. Does she want to sell more books? Probably. Does Jones deserve credit for finding a way to get her on the show to discuss the state’s biggest sports story of the year? He sure does.
So I would call today’s KSR show must-listen radio from 11-12.
