Isaac Humphries could need to play a big role at Texas A&M Saturday night if center Marcus Lee cannot play after injuring his back in Thursday’s win over Tennessee.
Here’s some of what Humphries had to say after the game.
On what a performance like Derek Willis’ does for UK offensively … “It just hypes us up when he makes all those 3s and gets his crazy put-backs – I don’t know how he does it. It just lifts us up. When the crowd goes crazy when Derek makes a shot it just helps us a lot with the mental side, just getting more hyped up.”
On if the season is taking a toll on them physically … “I mean it’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this before. So, obviously I’m feeling a bit sore. I haven’t been well all week.Tonight was the first day this week I felt really good. I’m a little sore after today’s game, but it’s just part of it.”
On how much more comfortable he is on the floor now … “I’m getting more comfortable with the players than anything. I’m starting to learn – in practice as well – how to play with them. I mean, Tyler especially. You just have to know how to play with him and I think I’m starting to pick it up a little bit. That’s helping.”
On Coach Cal saying they probably preferring playing games to practicing so the quick turnaround may not be a problem … “No, it’s going to be a great turnaround.”
On how anxious he is to get on the road and play another good team in a hostile environment … “Honestly, I’m so excited about the hot weather. Going to Texas this time of the year sounds very good. But the game is going to be just another one of those games where we’re going to have to be aggressive and focused, and know the scout and execute.”
